Sadly, after trying to weld additional material to the J-latch failed, our subcontractor took the component which the J-latch moved and which is attached to the door shaft promising to fabricate a new one. Regrettably, contractor...and component has disappeared and I've not been able to find a replacement anywhere...even via Tony Berni. Apparently the only way to solve the problem is to dismantal the driver's door and fabricate a mirror image of the missing component. Something I am NOT looking forward to.
Ha!!! Our multi-discipline machinist/electrician guy found the little pin on the inside of the interior door handle and pried it out with a very small screwdriver. Door handle removed. Now addressing the internal mechanics to open the door and determined the "J" shaped component that latches onto the slider pulling the door shaft had worn down so that the door pin stopped short by 1/4 inch preventing the door from opening. Is bringing his wire-feed welder to weld a button on the interior side of the "J" shaped component to resolve door issue. Guy is amazing.
