Forum operations.

Srolling thru the member directory, I count aproximately 180 members, and I can't help but wonder how much (if any) communication takes place between the members. I am also an owner of a equally rare Lotus Elite race car and the global Lotus community is very communicative; members, whose locations and profiles are known, are easily communicated with. I'm fortunate for having established communications with a member who is recognized as being THE US Lotus Elite expert. Why can't the DB Zagato Forum be the same???

I certainly understand the rational. I dont have any great solutions to your request other than having you feel free to create a forum posting asking if there are any other DB owners in your area, state, etc. The forum section here has always been hit and miss. We dont get a ton of traffic through the site. Our topic (double bubble cars) is very narrow and I suspect that 70% of our members dont frequent the forum. We do not plan to advertize or even try to focus on getting more members just for the sake of having more members. I suspect that the forum section will continue to be slow, intermittent, and used by just a few dozen people around the world. This was the pattern of the prior defunct Yahoo forum website that we archive on our site. That site was around for 10+ years and there usage was similar to ours. We have very unique and niche cars, thus a very limited amount of traffic. If this was a Corvette forum there would be hundreds of thousands of members and someone would always be active and commenting.

Also, FYI, I am not a website developer, or an internet technology guy. John and I created this website on our own as a passion/hobby for the marque, without assistance, using a website creating program. It took me 12 months to create the "bones" for the site and it has been adjusted slowly over the last 5 years. The "Website Program" we use does have limitations in its capability and I have limitations in my website creating ability. Sorry that we don't have the communication type or frequency that you are looking for. Unfortunately, I don't think that there is another online Double Bubble forum/website/etc that does. If there is one I am unaware of it. Atleast we have added a chat option and we hope that this new feature helps with your communication with others. If I come across another DB owner in or near Nashville I will certainly consider connecting you.

Abarth 750GT Sestriere

Hi, does anyone know anything about the Sestriere just sold at Aguttes? The car was in Spain and has taken part in many revival events. It is fitted with an 850 GBC engine currently.

It is recorded by incomplete Abarth production records that chassis 758169 (whether or not the blue car is the same) was bodied by MECAT near the end of what was their largely "Double Bubble" production run of approximately 275 bodies prior to the almost 50 "Sestriere" examples that they made ... with some variations in certain details. The original paint color was "beige". It was first consigned during June 1960 to the Southern California dealer, Parkinson. After that, my studies show nothing until what seems likely to be its 1988 appearance leaving Spain. Unless that was a different car?

Need help finding an enthusiast.

I have two 750 double bubbles and a PBS MK VII Sportsracer. One is the former landspeed record holder, the other hasn't been driven since 1965 in Houston. The sportsracer was stolen and not treated well. The problem is that I just turned 77 and don't think I have enough time left to do justice to the cars. I need to find someone who is young enough to take on three projects.

Hi....what ever happened with your cars? I too have a DB (in Nashville) and (I at 81; you're still a kid,,, :) am at the beginning of a cosmetic restoration. My DB was a historic racer on the East Coast and Sebring during the mid-80's. It has a significantly up-graded 750cc engine, suspension, cooling system and brakes and a bare-metal repaint. Would love to communicate with other DB owners to share information, support and repair issues.

Two Abarths I have Owned and Enjoyed

A few days ago a friend passed the link to this portal on to me.  I am excited to share with you the fun I had with two Abarths years ago.  I would also enjoy learning the status of either of the cars that may exist today.  I have seen a post that at least one of them may be in Japan.

I became aware of Fiat Abarths in the 1960s.  At least two, a Zagato and an Allemano Coupe were then being raced at Waterford Hills north of Detroit and there were others including Allemano Spiders in the Detroit area.

When I returned from military service in 1970, the Fiat Club of Detroit had recently formed.  I had owned three Fiats by that time and I joined the club and resumed autocrossing with my street car.  It wasn’t long before I decided to get a car for…
