These blocks were produced to a special bore. They were designed from the original 600 to increase to 1000 CC. It would be nice to know the exact numbers produced.

looking for suggestions for the 850ss

We've finally got most of the exterior lighting working. There were quite a few missing wires and a lot of bad terminals to sort out, but it's great to finally see all the lights functioning again.

Now that the electrical work is mostly behind us, it's finally time to start tackling some routine maintenance. I have a few questions and would really appreciate any advice from those who have been down this road before.

1. Front brake pads

The car has an 850 front disc brake conversion, but the box of spare parts that came with the car includes a set of brake pads that don't seem to fit. Does anyone know what calipers are commonly used for these conversions, or what brake pads I should be looking for?

36DCD is a good carb, I have one on my RM. You will also need the correct manifold. It seems to attach the same as a Fiat 850 carb.

Many Abarth's have the front spring turned over to lower the car so you may be able to raise it with another spring. The rear is more complex as you need to keep some negative camber back there.

follow up and update of the newly aquried 850ss

So after a bit more time, we managed to restore some of the brakes in the car. The first half of the pedal feels very soft, but the second half actually has pretty strong braking power. Iโ€™m wondering if thereโ€™s anything that could fix that issue.

Iโ€™m also sharing some engine photos and would love to know a bit more about this particular setup. I also have photos of many of the spare parts that came with the car โ€” if you have any information or knowledge about any of them, Iโ€™d really love to hear it.

Thanks!

Sid.

Once the brake pads wear down and bed in to the drum, I think the braking feel will become more solid.

The photo of the engine is interesting. The crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistons look like theyโ€™ve been modified in some way. It would be nice to see a larger photo.๐Ÿ‘
